Anne L. Washington Testifies Before the Financial Services Committee on AI Threats and Opportunities

Anne L. Washington, Assistant Professor of Data Policy at NYU and EPIC Advisor, testified last year before the U.S. House Financial Services Committee Task Force on Artificial Intelligence. The hearing’s purpose was to discuss, “The Future of Identity in Financial Services: Threats, Challenges, and Opportunities.” As a computer scientist trained in organizational ethnography, Professor Washington has unique expertise understanding how business processes, organizational structures, and the creation of digital records impact people.

Similarly, EPIC’s work advocating for fairness and transparency in AI has a sharp focus on human rights. In 2019, EPIC began publishing AI Policy Sourcebooks, the first compendium of AI policy, providing essential information to policy makers, researchers, journalists, and the public.
