Aleecia McDonald Teaches Tech with a focus on Privacy

EPIC Advisor Aleecia M. McDonald is the Director of Privacy at Stanford’s Center for Internet & Society. Her research focuses primarily on public policy issues of Internet privacy. In 2018, Professor McDonald established an immersive program for students called Practicum, which challenges students through technological innovation and includes a strong emphasis on privacy.

Professor McDonald holds a PhD in Engineering & Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon where she studied online privacy as a member of the Cylab Usable Privacy and Security (CUPS) research laboratory. Her findings have been featured in media outlets such as the Washington Post, Ars Technica, and Free Press’ Media Minute. Watch the short video below about Practicum.
